Prenatal and Post-Partum

  • Our breastfeeding program is run by our nurses and lactation consultants. It is offered to all clinic patients and their partners. 
  • Prenatal breastfeeding classes offical start date: TBA

During the Prenatal Breastfeeding Consultation

Patients will be educated on:
  • Benefits of breastfeeding (e.g. decreased risk for baby, benefits for mother)
  • How to optimize breastfeeding by getting a good start
  • Comfortable positions and a good latch
  • Baby led latching
  • Hunger cues
  • Frequency of feeds 
  • Normal infant behavior and normal feelings 
  • Expressing and storing breastmilk
  • Concerns and where to get help
  • What to do if your baby does need more

During the Post-Partum Breastfeeding Assessment

  • Physical assessment of baby and breast exam of mom will be preformed
  • Breastfeeding observation and educating parents to determine if their baby is feeding enough
  • Address any questions, problems, or concerns regarding breastfeeding
